10 BENEFITS OF DRINKING THE ALOE VERA GEL

April 12, 2018 0
10 BENEFITS OF DRINKING THE ALOE VERA GEL

10 BENEFITS OF DRINKING FOREVER ALOE

Imagine slicing open an aloe leaf and consuming the gel directly from the plant. Forever’s Aloe Vera Gel is as close to the real thing as you can get and was the first of its kind to receive certification by the International Aloe Science Council. This rich blend of pulp and liquid gives us a product as near to nature as possible.
1. A wonderful drink for good health
By drinking the Aloe Vera Gel with all its important ingredients (often now deficient in food) including 19 of the 20 amino acids needed by the human body and seven of the eight essential ones that just cannot be made, the body is able to get enough to allow complex enzyme systems to work really well. This means the body can function at 100%. The net result to the individual is a wonderful feeling of wellbeing.
2. A useful source of vitamins
Aloe Vera Gel contains a large range of vitamins – even trace elements of vitamin B12 which is rarely found in plants. Apart from vitamin A, it contains B-group vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E and folic acid. Many of these vitamins cannot be stored by the body so we need to constantly top them up from the food that we eat. What beUer way than by drinking a daily amount of Aloe Vera Gel while at the same time building up the body’s defence system against oxidative stress naturally?
3. A useful source of minerals
Some of the minerals found in aloe vera include calcium, sodium, potassium, iron, chromium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc. This is because the plant tends to grow in areas where soils are rich in these minerals and its roots are able to absorb and deliver them to us in a very available form.
4. Effect on gut flora
Aloe vera is a natural ‘balancer’ in many areas and nowhere more so than inside the gut, where it tends to regulate the various bacteria and yeasts that inhabit it. For example, if a person were to suffer with too much yeast in the gut, regular ingestion of the gel would tend to reduce this overgrowth. The same can be said of the more unfriendly bacteria that can accumulate in certain conditions.
5. Effects on the Musculoskeletal system
Certain substances in the aloe, such as the salicylic acid and the plant sterols are able to
soothe muscles and maintain healthy joints, mobility and flexibility.
6. Increases the activity of Fibroblasts
Fibroblasts are specialised cells found in the skin. Their job is to produce fibre such as collagen and elastin. These fibres give the skin its structure and of course, make it look plump and elastic. The more you have, the younger your skin looks.
7. Effect on the skin
When they are first produced deep in the epidermis, skin cells are rather large and very much alive, but by the time they reach the surface after 21 – 28 days (in normal skin), they are a shadow of their former selves and are transformed into just thin flakes of keratin which eventually fall off. Aloe Vera Gel provides the essential nutrition to feed the basal cells. Therefore the skin remains healthy and is able to perform its vital functions more efficiently as well as looking much better!
8. Balances the Immune System
Among the substances identified in aloe vera is a long chain sugar (polysaccharide) that is
known to have an effect on the cytokine system – the chemical messengers of the immune
system. Therefore it can act in a way that balances the system and so it can be considered and can be called an immunomodulator. In the U.S.A. this sugar has been extracted from aloe vera and made into a drug.
9. Assists in healthy digestion
A healthy digestive tract ensures that nutrients from the food we eat are absorbed into the bloodstream. There is clear, clinical evidence that by drinking Aloe Vera Gel the bowel is able to absorb these nutrients more efficiently, especially protein. I also suspect that many other substances are much better absorbed under its influence.
10. Effect on the Gut
Aloe vera has a wonderfully beneficial action on bowel function which results in smooth and efficient transit of contents resulting in a softer, bulkier stool, making it easier to pass.
In fact, there are so many nutrients in this drink that it is difficult to catalogue all the benefits that have been reported. One thing is certain – Aloe Vera Gel has had a profoundly positive influence on the health and lifestyle of many.

DO YOU REALYY NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT

DO YOU REALYY NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT

DO YOU REALLY NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT ?

7 questions that can help you decide.

A study published in the April 20 issue ofThe Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that people whose BMIs put them into the overweight category actually had a lower risk of death than people in the normal-weight group. (People who were considered obese still had an increased risk of death.)
"When we looked at the overweight group … we found that that group was associated with fewer than the expected number of deaths," says study author David F. Williamson, PhD, senior epidemiologist at the Diabetes Division of the CDC. Does that mean that if you're overweight, but not obese, you should quit worrying about dropping the extra pounds? Experts who spoke to WebMD gave us some answers -- along with seven questions you should ask yourself.

  • What is your lifestyle? Regular physical activity and healthy eating are important, no matter what your weight or your BMI.
  • What is your family history? If a close relative has a history of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, or other weight-related ailment, it's crucial to be mindful of your weight.
  • What is your weight history? People who have consistently gained weight over the years need be careful. Experts say your BMI should not increase dramatically, even as you age. Even moderate weight gain in adulthood can increase your risk of diabetes.
  • How is your weight distributed? Weight gained above the hips -- the so-called "apple" shape -- can be problematic. In both men and women, bigger abdomens can signal trouble.
  • What is your waist size? The National Institutes of Health has determined that a waist circumference of over 40 inches in men and over 35 inches in women signifies a health risk, particularly in people with BMIs of 25-34.9 (the overweight category). Clothing size is not a good indicator of weight or health, since sizes vary with different manufacturers. But you can use your own clothing -- maybe a favorite pair of pants -- as a personal gauge of your weight.
  • What is your health profile? If your cholesterol and blood pressure levels are high and your BMI falls into the overweight or obese category, it's important to lose weight. If your BMI is in the high end of healthy or in the low overweight range, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor about whether weight loss is right for you.
  • How do you feel? Seriously consider weight loss if you are overweight and have joint problems, shortness of breath, or other health troubles that limit your day-to-day living.

The Body Mass Index

To understand the issue of weight and wellness, you first need to know your BMI, the common measure of fatness that is at the heart of the debate.
To find your BMI, use a BMI calculator. A BMI of:

  • 18.5 or less is considered underweight
  • 18.5-24.9 is considered ideal weight
  • 25-29.9 is considered overweight
  • 30 or higher is considered obese
Many doctors and researchers say the BMI is a useful tool to determine whether someone is overweight or obese, though they concede it has limitations. But critics say the BMI is an inaccurate gauge of wellness.
"This overweight category of body mass index of 25 to 29.9 is a phony category. It doesn't have medical justification," says Paul Campos, JD, a law professor and author of The Diet Myth: Why America's Obsession with Weight Is Hazardous to Your Health.
Campos says the BMI was developed as a statistical sorting tool for researchers and was never meant as a gauge for weight loss.

Weight and Health

How does weight affect health? If you fall into the obese category, the evidence is pretty clear.
The April 20 Journal of the American Medical Association study reports that obesity is responsible for an estimated 112,000 deaths per year. Other studies have shown that obesity puts people at higher risk of health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, and osteoarthritis.
But even people who are obese may not need to drop much weight to improve their health.
"You don't need to lose a lot of weight in order to be healthier," says Cathy Nonas, RD, spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association. Whether you weigh 200 pounds or 400, "the first 10% of weight that you lose - that's the most significant improvement in your health profile that you're going to see," she says.
The Medical University of South Carolina Weight Management Center also recommends an initial loss of 10% of body weight, O'Neil says. "We know that's an amount of weight loss that can be achieved by most people."

YOUR WEIGHT AND DIABETES

YOUR WEIGHT AND DIABETES

YOUR WEIGHT AND DIABETES

Diabetes is a group of disorders characterized by chronic high blood glucose levels due to the body's failure to produce any or enough insulin to regulate high glucose levels. There are two main types of diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes, which often occurs in children or adolescents, is caused by the body's inability to make insulin
Type 2 diabetes, which occurs as a result of the body's inability to react properly to insulin (insulin resistance). Type 2 diabetes is more prevalent than type 1 diabetes and is therefore seen in roughly 90% of all diabetes cases. Type 2 diabetes is predominantly diagnosed after the age of forty, however, it is now being found in all age ranges, including children and adolescents.
The impact of diabetes goes beyond chronic hyperglycemia. Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness (diabetic retinopathy), end stage kidney diseases (diabetic nephropathy) and non-traumatic lower extremity amputations (diabetic neuropathy) in working-age adults. People with diabetes are also two to four times more likely to experience cardiovascular complications and strokes. Diabetes and its related complications result in an estimated 200,000+ deaths each year, making diabetes one of the major causes of mortality in the U.S.
In 2012, the NIH reported an estimated 29.1 million Americans (9.3% of the population) living with diabetes. Of these, an estimated 8.1 million persons were unaware that they had the disease.

How does my weight relate to diabetes?
There are many risk factors for type 2 diabetes such as age, race, pregnancy, stress, certain medications, genetics or family history, high cholesterol and obesity. However, the single best predictor of type 2 diabetes is overweight or obesity. Almost 90% of people living with type 2 diabetes are overweight or have obesity. People who are overweight or have obesity have added pressure on their body's ability to use insulin to properly control blood sugar levels, and are therefore more likely to develop diabetes. The number of diabetes cases among American adults increased by a third during the 1990s, and additional increases are expected. This rapid increase in the occurrence of diabetes is mostly attributed to the growing prevalence of obesity in the United States.

What can you do to prevent diabetes?
Type 2 diabetes is largely preventable. Studies have found that lifestyle changes and small amounts of weight loss in the range of 5-10% can prevent or delay the development of type 2 diabetes among high-risk adults. Lifestyle interventions including diet and moderate to intense physical activity (such as walking for 150 minutes per week) were used in these studies to produce small amounts of weight loss. The development of diabetes was reduced by 40% to 60% during these studies, which lasted three to six years. Preventing weight gain, increasing activity levels and working toward small amounts of weight loss if you are overweight can have a big impact on the likelihood that you will develop diabetes in the future. Thus far, weight management is the best thing you can do to prevent the development of diabetes.

What can you do if you already have diabetes?
You can have a positive influence on your blood sugar and your overall health by choosing foods wisely, exercising regularly, reducing your stress levels, making modest lifestyle changes and using medications to lower blood glucose levels. Type 1 diabetic patients must have insulin exogenously applied to maintain healthy blood glucose levels. Type 2 diabetic patients, however, can use insulin or drugs that sensitize their bodies to insulin, which work quite well in lowering blood glucose levels. Unfortunately, these drugs are not without risk as they, as well as the exogenous application of insulin, can often cause diabetic patients to suffer from low blood glucose levels (hypoglycemia) if taken improperly, which may result in seizures, unconsciousness, or death. Small amounts of weight loss (losing 10 pounds or more) can decrease the amounts of these medications needed to keep your blood sugar levels within a healthy range by lowering your blood glucose levels, which furthermore reduces the risk of diabetic complications. Ultimately, better nutrition, increased physical activity, and control of blood glucose levels can delay the progression of diabetes and help prevent the complications associated with the disease.

EFFECTS OF OVER WEIGHT IN SEX

EFFECTS OF OVER WEIGHT IN SEX

EFFECTS OF OVER WEIGHT IN SEX

Obesity is caused by over-eating accompanied by sedentary lifestyle. Obesity increases the risk of developing diseases such as diabetes, heart attack and many other diseases. Obese individuals also fail in their sexual activities. This article presents the relation between obesity and sexual activities.
Years of life without proper exercise may lead to obesity. Large amounts of fat get deposited in various regions of the body. Increased amount of fat accumulation causes the males to suffer premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction. These disorders eliminate sex desires in males. On the other hand, females suffer with problems such as trouble obtaining orgasm or pain during intercourse.

Also the medicines you take for various diseases that go hand-in-hand with obesity like diabetes, heart disease and hypertension can lead to lack of libido and erectile dysfunction among other sex-related problems. With 1.5 billion people around the world in the overweight category, sex-related concerns of obesity is a situation various healthcare services will have to deal with sooner than later. Here are the top ten ways obesity can harm your sex life:

LACK OF STAMINA ( PREMATURE EJACULATION)

Obesity is often associated with laziness and a sedentary lifestyle. And this may often percolate into their sex lives as well. In men, it will also significantly decrease the time they can maintain an erection.

To sum it up, I don’t want to seem harsh pointing out how being fat or obese can harm your sex life. I was grossly obese myself and still continue to face multiple body image issues. But the fact remains that you can improve your sex life by simply losing a few pounds. And this will not only benefit your sex life but your overall health and well-being as well. What you’ve to realise is that the entire situation is in your own hand; you’re in control of your weight and you can choose to lose it whenever your heart desires.

ERECTILE  DYSFUNCTION

Did you know that obese men are far likelier to suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED) or impotency? Problems associated with obesity like high cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes prevent efficient blood flow to all parts of the body including the penis, thus causing issues with erection. Various studies have shown that even losing a little amount of weight can help beat the condition.

HORMONAL  IMBALANCE LEADING TO LOW LIBIDO

Obesity is directly linked to hormonal imbalance and lower testosterone levels, which in turn can inhibit sexual desires in both men and women. Another issue is that increased body fat leads to more sex hormone binding globulins (SHBG) in the system. SHBG is a natural chemical that binds to testosterone, which means that there is less of the sex hormone left to handle the demands of a normal sex life. There has also been evidence to suggest that obesity in young boys can lead to fatigue and development of male breasts. In young girls it can lead to PCOD, irregular menstrual cycle and thyroid problems.

INFERTILITY

In women, obesity leads to abnormalities in their eggs that make them harder to fertilise. Brigham and Women’s Hospital infertility researchers examined nearly 300 eggs that failed to fertilise during IVF and found obese women’s eggs were likelier to have chromosomal abnormalities. It also causes excess insulin production and PCOD (a condition where the periods are irregular and ovaries produce small, immature eggs instead of healthy mature ones). Obese women are also likely to suffer from failed pregnancies and miscarriages than regular weighing ones. Here is how to combat vaginal dryness naturally to have pleasurable sex.

In men, obesity is directly linked to infertility because of the way it affects sperm. Research has found that men who consume a fatty diet have lower quality of sperm. Men consuming more saturated fats had 35 percent lower total sperm count and 38 percent lower sperm concentration than men who ate healthier.

OBESITY-RELATED DISEASE THAT HINDER SEX
People who are heavy, particularly in the central abdomen area tend to suffer from a host of diseases which can affect their sex lives in various ways. This can be due to physiological or psychological reasons or due to medicines taken for the disease. Diabetes, heart disease, cancer, hypertension, depression, dementia and other ailments all affect your sexual functioning. In fact, one of the most tell-tale symptoms of diabetes is erectile dysfunction. Medicines too, ranging from anti-depressants to those used to treat heart conditions, high blood pressure and cholesterol can lead to sexual issues like impotence,  decreased sex drive, ejaculation problems and even delayed or no orgasms.  Here’s a complete list of medicines that can affect your sexual life.

BURIED PENIS SYNDROME

Folds of abdominal fat and skin in obese men make the penis look rather small or even ‘buried’ at times. Called the ‘buried penis syndrome’, it can seriously hamper sex lives. This however, should not be confused with the ‘micropenis’ which is a condition where the erect penis measures less than 3 inches. This is mostly a congenital disorder in children and can affect around 0.6% of the male population.

STDs AND UNWANTED PREGNANCIES

Since obese people are likely to have less sex than the others, they are likelier to exhibit high-risk sexual behaviour. An American study found that obese women were four times likelier to have unplanned pregnancies because they’re less likely to be prepared for intercourse. They are also less likely to use oral or other forms of contraceptives. A French study found a similar situation among obese men despite having lesser sexual partners.

FEWER SEX POSITION POSSIBLE

Sadly, the sheer logistics of sex can change when one or both partners are fat and can make coitus in some positions particularly hard. The popular missionary position is out-of-bounds if the male partner is too heavy. And if both partners are obese, then the central abdominal area can prevent proper penetration. The rear entry style which is more popular among the obese can also cause problems because the woman usually has to spend a long amount of time on her knees. Spooning, a sex position where partners lie side by side is also hard for fat people. However, fat people shouldn’t fret and there are multitudes of positions that they can try with their partners.  Here’s a great article I came across about modified sex positions.

LESS LIKELY TO HAVE SEX

Let’s face it – we live in a society that judges us by our looks and obese people are always going to find it harder looking for a partner. The problem is even graver in a country like ours where it is okay for a man to be obese if he has a high-paying job or is from a rich family whereas it is almost impossible to find a groom for a ‘fat girl’.

LOW SELF-ESTEEM DEPRESSION AND OTHER CONDITIONS

We live in a society where obese people are routinely made fun of and termed as ‘lazy’, ‘stupid’, ‘dumb’ or ‘slow’. This kind of segregation starts when a person is very young and obesity becomes the defining characteristic of an individual irrespective of her other qualities. This labelling sticks for life and anyone who has faced childhood obesity is likely to develop very low self-esteem. This promotes a negative body image which makes obese people uncomfortable in their skins. How can you be comfortable having sex, if all your life you’ve been told you’re ugly? Also various studies have shown obese people are far likelier to suffer from depression and other mental health problems which reduce libido and are likely to cause sexual dysfunction.

WHAT CAN THIS PRODUCTS DO FOR YOU.....?

Forever Garcinia Plus® is a revolutionary dietary supplement, containing ingredients that may aid in weight loss. The primary ingredient is a natural substance derived from the fruit of a Southern Asian tree, the Garcinia Cambogia, also known as the Malabar Tamarind. The rind of this fruit is dried and used to produce a substance that is very similar to the citric acid found in oranges and other citrus fruits.
Specialists in plant compounds became aware of the remarkable qualities of this substance in the late 1960s, when they learned that it can temporarily inhibit the body’s production of fats from carbohydrates. During the normal metabolism of a meal, carbohydrate calories that are not used immediately for energy or stored as glycogen are converted into fats in the liver. Garcinia works by inhibiting the enzyme (citrate liase) which converts these calories into fat. As a result, the body will burn existing fat stores, thus aiding in weight loss.

When enough glycogen has been created and stored in the liver, a message is sent to the brain indicating sufficient food has been taken. This action is called a satiety reflex, and quells the appetite, reducing the desire for more food.

Contains a natural appetite suppressant and help you lose weight from the tummy, arms and thighs
Temporarily inhibits the enzyme that converts calories into fat
A useful tool in weight management
Forever Garcinia Plus® is suitable for any metabolism, fast or slow.

Forever Lean provides two revolutionary ingredients that can help reduce the body’s absorption of calories from fat and carbohydrates. The first of these ingredients is a unique, fat-absorbing fibre derived from the cactus plant, opuntia ficus-indica, otherwise known as Indian fig, nopal or prickly pear. Studies have shown that this unique fibre has a very high ability to bind fats, compared to other types of plants.
The other unique ingredient in Forever Lean is a protein specially derived from the beans of the phaseolus vulgaris plant, otherwise known as white kidney beans. This protein works by slowing the body’s absorption of sugar in the small intestine by temporarily inhibiting the enzyme activity that converts starches into sugar.
Together these two revolutionary new ingredients can help you succeed in your quest to reach your ideal weight by helping to block the absorption of some of the fat and carb calories you ingest.
The third most effective ingredient in Forever Lean is chromium trichloride. Chromium is a very important trace mineral which helps the body’s natural ability to regulate blood sugar by acting as a GTF (glucose tolerance factor) cofactor. This is especially important for normal metabolism.
To maximise the effectiveness of this supplement however, it is important to remember that you should also incorporate a healthy diet and regular exercise into your overall weight control plan in order to achieve and maintain your weight goal.

WHAT CAUSES OBESITY AND OVER-WEIGHT

April 12, 2018 0
WHAT CAUSES OBESITY AND OVER-WEIGHT

WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF OBESITY AND OVERWEIGHT?

   Lack of Energy Balance

A lack of energy balance most often causes overweight and obesity. Energy balance means that your energy IN equals your energy OUT.
Energy IN is the amount of energy or calories you get from food and drinks. Energy OUT is the amount of energy your body uses for things like breathing, digesting, and being physically active.

To maintain a healthy weight, your energy IN and OUT don't have to balance exactly every day. It's the balance over time that helps you maintain a healthy weight.

  • The same amount of energy IN and energy OUT over time = weight stays the same
  • More energy IN than energy OUT over time = weight gain
  • More energy OUT than energy IN over time = weight loss
Overweight and obesity happen over time when you take in more calories than you use.

                                                                          OTHER CAUSES

An Inactive Lifestyle

Many Americans aren't very physically active. One reason for this is that many people spend hours in front of TVs and computers doing work, schoolwork, and leisure activities. In fact, more than 2 hours a day of regular TV viewing time has been linked to overweight and obesity.
Other reasons for not being active include: relying on cars instead of walking, fewer physical demands at work or at home because of modern technology and conveniences, and lack of physical education classes in schools.
People who are inactive are more likely to gain weight because they don't burn the calories that they take in from food and drinks. An inactive lifestyle also raises your risk for coronary heart diseasehigh blood pressure, diabetes, colon cancer, and other health problems.

                                                                                                 Environment

Our environment doesn't support healthy lifestyle habits; in fact, it encourages obesity. Some reasons include:
  • Lack of neighborhood sidewalks and safe places for recreation. Not having area parks, trails, sidewalks, and affordable gyms makes it hard for people to be physically active.
  • Work schedules. People often say that they don't have time to be physically active because of long work hours and time spent commuting.
  • Oversized food portions. Americans are exposed to huge food portions in restaurants, fast food places, gas stations, movie theaters, supermarkets, and even at home. Some of these meals and snacks can feed two or more people. Eating large portions means too much energy IN. Over time, this will cause weight gain if it isn't balanced with physical activity.
  • Lack of access to healthy foods. Some people don't live in neighborhoods that have supermarkets that sell healthy foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Or, for some people, these healthy foods are too costly.
  • Food advertising. Americans are surrounded by ads from food companies. Often children are the targets of advertising for high-calorie, high-fat snacks and sugary drinks. The goal of these ads is to sway people to buy these high-calorie foods, and often they do.

Genes and Family History

Studies of identical twins who have been raised apart show that genes have a strong influence on a person's weight. Overweight and obesity tend to run in families. Your chances of being overweight are greater if one or both of your parents are overweight or obese.
Your genes also may affect the amount of fat you store in your body and where on your body you carry the extra fat. Because families also share food and physical activity habits, a link exists between genes and the environment.

Children adopt the habits of their parents. A child who has overweight parents who eat high-calorie foods and are inactive will likely become overweight too. However, if the family adopts healthy food and physical activity habits, the child's chance of being overweight or obese is reduced.

Health Conditions

Some hormone problems may cause overweight and obesity, such as underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), Cushing's syndrome, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
Underactive thyroid is a condition in which the thyroid gland doesn't make enough thyroid hormone. Lack of thyroid hormone will slow down your metabolism and cause weight gain. You'll also feel tired and weak.
Cushing's syndrome is a condition in which the body's adrenal glands make too much of the hormone cortisol. Cushing's syndrome also can develop if a person takes high doses of certain medicines, such as prednisone, for long periods.
People who have Cushing's syndrome gain weight, have upper-body obesity, a rounded face, fat around the neck, and thin arms and legs.
PCOS is a condition that affects about 5–10 percent of women of childbearing age. Women who have PCOS often are obese, have excess hair growth, and have reproductive problems and other health issues. These problems are caused by high levels of hormones called androgens.

Medicines

Certain medicines may cause you to gain weight. These medicines include some corticoste roids, antidepressants, and seizure medicines.
These medicines can slow the rate at which your body burns calories, increase your appetite, or cause your body to hold on to extra water. All of these factors can lead to weight gain.

Emotional Factors

Some people eat more than usual when they're bored, angry, or stressed. Over time, overeating will lead to weight gain and may cause overweight or obesity.

Smoking

Some people gain weight when they stop smoking. One reason is that food often tastes and smells better after quitting smoking.
Another reason is because nicotine raises the rate at which your body burns calories, so you burn fewer calories when you stop smoking. However, smoking is a serious health risk, and quitting is more important than possible weight gain.

Age

As you get older, you tend to lose muscle, especially if you're less active. Muscle loss can slow down the rate at which your body burns calories. If you don't reduce your calorie intake as you get older, you may gain weight.
Midlife weight gain in women is mainly due to aging and lifestyle, but menopause also plays a role. Many women gain about 5 pounds during menopause and have more fat around the waist than they did before.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy, women gain weight to support their babies’ growth and development. After giving birth, some women find it hard to lose the weight. This may lead to overweight or obesity, especially after a few pregnancies.

Lack of Sleep

Research shows that lack of sleep increases the risk of obesity. For example, one study of teenagers showed that with each hour of sleep lost, the odds of becoming obese went up. Lack of sleep increases the risk of obesity in other age groups as well.
People who sleep fewer hours also seem to prefer eating foods that are higher in calories and carbohydrates, which can lead to overeating, weight gain, and obesity.
Sleep helps maintain a healthy balance of the hormones that make you feel hungry (ghrelin) or full (leptin). When you don't get enough sleep, your level of ghrelin goes up and your level of leptin goes down. This makes you feel hungrier than when you're well-rested.
Sleep also affects how your body reacts to insulin, the hormone that controls your blood glucose (sugar) level. Lack of sleep results in a higher than normal blood sugar level, which may increase your risk for diabetes.
